In Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment (OMT), or Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM), a DO physician can diagnose, treat, and prevent illness or injury through hands-on therapy. It’s designed to adjust your body into a functional state through muscular, skeletal, joint, and/or organ manipulation using techniques that include stretching, gentle pressure and resistance. OMT can complement, and even replace, drugs or surgery. Sometimes described as similar to chiropractic manipulation, osteopath patients often feel relief after one adjustment.
